High temperature silicone tubing
that stays flexible at 230 °C

Red and white compounds rated for 230 °C continuous and 250 °C peaks, with compression set and elongation data after ageing so you know what is left at end of life.

WHY THIS SPEC

Silicone does not melt at 230 °C.
It slowly stops being rubber.

The useful question is not the maximum temperature on a datasheet. It is how much elongation and compression set survive after 1 000 hours at the temperature you actually run. A standard VMQ loses roughly half its elongation over that period at 200 °C; a heat-stabilised compound with the right filler holds considerably more.

So we quote two numbers: the continuous rating, and the retained properties after ageing at that rating. If your duty is a short peak rather than a steady soak, say so, because the compound for a 250 °C one-hour event is not the same as the one for 200 °C continuous.

Ageing data, not just a rating
Elongation and compression set reported after 1 000 h at 200 °C and 230 °C.
Iron-oxide red or white
Red for general heat, white for food and where colour bleed is a concern.
Fibre sleeve option
Glass or aramid sleeve over the tube where radiant heat or abrasion is the real problem.
Flame retardant grade
UL 94 V-0 available; note that FR additives reduce flex life, so specify only where needed.
OPTIONS

Four ways to specify it

Same compound family, different construction. Mixing two options on one order is common and usually cheaper than splitting the purchase.

Standard High-Temp

Red compound, general heat duty

230 °C · ID 3–25 mm

White High-Temp

Clean-room and food-friendly heat tubing

230 °C · ID 3–19 mm

Fibre-Sleeved Hose

Radiant heat and abrasion protection

to 250 °C · ID 6–32 mm

Flame-Retardant Tubing

UL 94 V-0 for enclosed equipment

180 °C · ID 3–16 mm
WHERE IT RUNS

Applications this line is specified into

01

Engine & exhaust bay

Charge-air and coolant lines near a hot manifold.

02

Ovens & furnaces

Door seals and vent lines at 220 °C continuous.

03

LED & lighting

Sleeving next to the heat sink, not just at the LED.

04

Hot air & blowers

Duct connections that must stay flexible.

05

3D printing

Hot-end and chamber tubing with repeated heat cycles.

06

Hot fill & steam

Steam injection and hot-fill lines with a white compound.

DIMENSIONS

Bore, wall and retained properties

Retention figures are from 1 000 h air ageing at the stated temperature, tested to ISO 188. They describe the tube at end of life, not at day one.

FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

230 °C continuous or 200 °C?
Both compounds exist and they are not interchangeable on price. A true 230 °C heat-stabilised compound costs more per metre. If your real duty is 180–200 °C, take the standard compound and spend the difference on a thicker wall.
Does the tube go brittle or soft with age?
Silicone goes soft before it goes brittle. Hardness drops and elongation falls, so the tube starts to sag and balloon under pressure before it cracks. That is why we report retained elongation rather than just hardness.
Is the red colour functional or cosmetic?
Functional, historically. Iron oxide pigment is a heat stabiliser as well as a colour, which is why high-temperature silicone is usually red. A white compound uses a different stabiliser package and is preferred where colour transfer matters.
Do I need the fibre sleeve?
Only if the heat source is radiant or the hose rubs. A sleeve does not raise the liner rating; it protects the outside from a hot surface or a sharp edge. If the failure you have seen is a melted spot on one side, the answer is a sleeve, not a higher-rated compound.
Can you supply UL 94 V-0?
Yes, but be deliberate about it. Flame retardants reduce flex life and add cost, so use FR only where a flame test actually applies, not as a general safety margin.

Tell us the real temperature profile.

Steady soak, cyclic, or a short peak? Each points to a different compound. Send the profile and the failure you have seen before, and we will quote the tube plus the ageing data behind the rating.
