Braided silicone hose
for pressure and vacuum

Polyester, aramid or stainless braid over a silicone liner. Working pressure to 40 bar, vacuum to −0.9 bar, and a bore that stays round when the line is hot and pulsing.

WHY THIS SPEC

A plain tube bursts.
A braid decides where.

Unreinforced silicone is a good chemical barrier and a poor pressure vessel. The braid carries the hoop load, so the liner only has to be leak-tight. Change the braid angle and the same liner holds 6 bar or 40 bar; change the fibre and it holds at 180 °C without creeping.

The failure mode to design against is not burst. It is the liner extruding between braid strands at a fitting, or the braid fretting through the liner after a few thousand pulses. We bond the liner to the braid and add an abrasion-resistant cover where the hose is clamped, which is where most field failures start.

Pressure rated, not estimated
Burst tested per lot at 4× working pressure. Test certificate with the shipment.
Vacuum capable
Spiral braid holds −0.9 bar without the bore collapsing, unlike a straight braid.
Bonded liner
Liner bonded to braid so it cannot extrude at the coupling under pressure cycling.
Abrasion cover
Optional smooth cover where the hose runs through a clamp or a panel cut-out.
OPTIONS

Four ways to specify it

Same compound family, different construction. Mixing two options on one order is common and usually cheaper than splitting the purchase.

Polyester Braid Hose

General pressure duty, flexible, low cost

ID 6–25 mm · to 12 bar

Aramid Braid Hose

High pressure with a thin wall

ID 5–19 mm · to 40 bar

Stainless Braid Hose

Hot, abrasive or fire-exposed routes

ID 6–32 mm · to 25 bar

Food-Grade Braided Hose

FDA liner for suction and CIP return

ID 8–40 mm · to 10 bar
WHERE IT RUNS

Applications this line is specified into

01

Pump discharge

Pressure pulses at the outlet of diaphragm and piston pumps.

02

CIP return lines

Caustic and acid at 80 °C with a food-grade liner.

03

Coolant & charge air

Under-hood routes with heat and vibration.

04

Pneumatic transfer

Shop air and vacuum lines that flex constantly.

05

Abrasive slurry

Covered hose where the outside rubs on steel.

06

Suction & vacuum

Non-collapsing bore for drainage and aspiration.

DIMENSIONS

Bore, braid and pressure rating

Ratings apply at 20 °C with the hose straight. Derate 20 % above 120 °C and 10 % for a bend tighter than 3× the listed radius.

FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

What working pressure can I actually run?
Take the table rating and derate for temperature and bend: 20 % off above 120 °C and 10 % off for bends tighter than three times the radius. Ratings are burst divided by four, so a 40 bar burst hose is rated at 10 bar continuous.
Will the braid hold under vacuum?
Only if it is a spiral braid. A straight braid collapses inward at about −0.4 bar. Tell us the vacuum level at the quoting stage; we will specify spiral construction rather than ship a hose that flattens on the first pull.
Can you supply the hose with fittings attached?
Yes. Barbed, JIC, BSP and camlock ends, crimped or banded, with a pull test on the first assembly. Sending us the mating fitting or its drawing is faster than specifying by name.
Does the braid show through the cover?
On a thin cover, the braid texture is visible but the liner is not exposed. If the hose is handled or routed against a sharp edge, order the smooth abrasion cover: it is a separate extrusion, not a coating.
Is the food-grade version really FDA compliant end to end?
The liner is FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 compound. The braid sits outside the liner and never touches product, but we still use a food-contact-approved cover so that a cut or a splash cannot introduce a non-compliant surface.

Give us pressure, bore and bend radius.

Those three numbers, plus the temperature and the fluid, are enough to specify the braid and the cover. We send a 1 m sample and the burst certificate so you can pressure test it in your own rig.
