INDUSTRY APPLICATIONS · SIX SECTORS

One compound library.
Six industries that depend on it.

Medical devices, food lines, EV packs, outdoor lighting, automation cells and consumer products usually fail for the same reason: a silicone part specified for the wrong media. We compound, extrude and mould in-house, so grade, tolerance and certificate all come from one factory.

COMPLIANCE ON EVERY LOT

Six standards,
one supplier.

FDA 21 CFR 177.2600Food-contact elastomer, repeated use
LFGB §30 & §31German food-contact migration
USP Class VIBiological reactivity, in vivo
ISO 10993-5 / -10Cytotoxicity & irritation
REACH / RoHSSVHC and phthalate screening
ISO 9001:2015Process and traceability audit

CoA and migration reports ship with each batch. Third-party lab testing on request.

WHY SECTOR COMES FIRST

The same silicone behaves
differently in a drug path
and a battery pack.

Hardness, cure system and post-cure decide whether a tube survives 10 000 pump cycles or swells after a week in coolant. A 50 Shore A peroxide-cured tube is the right answer for a coolant hose and the wrong one for a peristaltic pump head — same material family, opposite failure mode.

So we start from the application instead of the catalogue: media, temperature, cycle count, cleaning regime, and the certificate your end customer will audit. Then we shortlist two or three compounds and send samples, so validation happens before tooling money is spent.

SECTORS WE SUPPLY

Pick the application —
we will match the compound.

Each sector below has its own failure mode, its own test standard and its own sensible compound. These are the six we build for every week.

Medical & Pharmaceutical

Tubing, seals and moulded parts for the patient side and the drug path — peristaltic pump heads, catheter shafts, drainage lines and vial closures.

01 · MEDICAL & PHARMACEUTICAL

Cleanroom parts for the patient side
and the drug path.

Medical projects fail on paperwork as often as on tolerance. We compound platinum-cured VMQ in-house, post-cure it to drive out volatiles, and keep the batch traceable from raw silicone to the bag you receive.

  • Extractables first Post-cured to reduce volatile siloxane; USP Class VI and cytotoxicity reports issued per part number.
  • Pump life Peristaltic tubing validated on 10 000+ compression cycles; hardness held to ±3 Shore A across the lot.
  • Radiopaque options Barium sulphate loaded compounds for catheter and drainage parts, 30–60 % loading by weight.
  • Cleanroom handling Class 100 000 packing on request, double-bagged with batch label inside the outer bag.
02 · FOOD & BEVERAGE

Taste-neutral lines that survive
the wash-down shift.

A food-grade hose is judged on two things the datasheet rarely shows: whether it changes the taste of the product, and whether it still seals after a year of caustic CIP. Both come down to cure system and post-cure, not to the word “FDA”.

  • Migration tested Overall and specific migration to EU 10/2011 and FDA protocols, with the simulant matched to your product.
  • Steam & CIP Compounds stabilised for 134 °C steam cycles and 1–2 % caustic at 80 °C without surface crazing.
  • No taste transfer Peroxide-free platinum cure for dairy, coffee and beverage contact; sensory panel reports available.
  • Metal-detectable Optional iron-loaded grades for lines running through a metal detector at the packing stage.
03 · AUTOMOTIVE & EV

Heat, coolant and 15-year
under-hood exposure.

EV programmes moved the hard problems from the engine bay to the battery pack: thermal interfaces that must not pump out, connector seals that survive temperature shock, and flame requirements that did not exist five years ago.

  • Thermal interface Gap pads and dispensed pads from 1.0 to 3.0 W/m·K, with compression set under 15 % after 1 000 h at 125 °C.
  • Coolant resistance Ethylene and propylene glycol immersion tested to 1 000 h at 100 °C — volume swell held under 10 %.
  • Sealing Connector and grommet seals moulded to ±0.08 mm, flash-free on the sealing face.
  • Flame & fogging UL 94 V-0 and low-fogging (VDA 278) grades for interior and pack-adjacent parts.

FAQ

Questions engineers ask us first

Can one compound cover both food contact and medical use?
Yes, within limits. A platinum-cured, post-cured VMQ can hold FDA 21 CFR 177.2600, LFGB and USP Class VI at the same time, and we keep that grade in stock. ISO 10993 is different: cytotoxicity and extractables depend on the finished geometry and the sterilisation method, so those tests are run on the component, not on the raw compound.
Do you issue certificates with every lot?
Every batch ships with a CoA covering hardness, tensile, elongation, tear and compression set, plus the compound batch number that traces back to the raw silicone. Migration and cytotoxicity reports are third-party and issued per part number — copies go out with the first production order and are re-issued whenever the compound changes.
When is platinum cure the wrong choice?
Platinum cure is the default for anything touching a patient, food or a drug path, but it is inhibited by sulphur, tin, amine and phthalate contamination. In a workshop that also handles vulcanised rubber it can fail to cure at all. Peroxide cure tolerates that environment and costs less, at the price of higher compression set and an extra post-cure step — which is why we still specify it for some coolant and high-heat hoses.
Can you match a Pantone colour?
Yes. Colour is matched to a Pantone reference or a physical sample, with a ΔE target agreed before production. Pigments are chosen to stay inside the food-contact and REACH limits, so a handful of very bright shades are only available in non-contact grades — we will tell you before you design around them.
What is the minimum order for a new industry-specific profile?
From existing tooling, 500 pcs per size or 300 m of tube. A new extrusion die starts at 1 000 m with die cost from USD 300; a compression mould starts at 500 pcs with tooling from USD 800. Samples from existing tooling are free and ship in 72 hours.

Tell us the application.
We will tell you the compound.
