Silicone sleeves for LED strips
and outdoor fixtures

Diffused, clear and milky sleeves that protect a strip to IP67 and stay transparent after years of UV. Light transmission and diffusion are specified, not guessed.

WHY THIS SPEC

A sleeve is an optical part.
Most suppliers treat it as a tube.

Put a silicone sleeve over an LED strip and two things happen at once: the silicone protects the electronics, and it becomes part of the optical system. A wall that is too thin shows the individual diodes as a dotted line; too thick and you lose 30 % of the output. The right diffusion depends on the diode pitch and the distance from the strip, not on a catalogue shade.

So we ask for the strip: LED pitch, power per metre, and how far the sleeve sits above the board. From that we specify wall thickness and diffusion grade, then send a 300 mm sample for you to photograph. Silicone also does not yellow like PVC under UV, which is why the same sleeve works indoors and on a facade.

Optical data, not adjectives
Transmission and haze measured per grade, so the light output is predictable.
UV and heat stable
No yellowing after 1 000 h QUV; no embrittlement at 150 °C near the driver.
IP67 as a system
Sleeve plus end cap plus potting compound, tested together rather than claimed.
Matched to LED pitch
Diffusion grade chosen from your pitch and stand-off, so the strip reads as one line.
OPTIONS

Four ways to specify it

Same compound family, different construction. Mixing two options on one order is common and usually cheaper than splitting the purchase.

Clear Protective Sleeve

Maximum transmission for indoor strips

ID 8–16 mm · 85–92 %

Frosted Diffuser Sleeve

Even line, hides individual diodes

ID 10–18 mm · matched haze

Milky Neon Sleeve

High diffusion for neon-effect flex

ID 12–25 mm · 60–75 %

Dual-Colour Sleeve

Co-extruded white diffuser and coloured body

ID 10–16 mm · custom
WHERE IT RUNS

Applications this line is specified into

01

LED strip protection

Indoor and outdoor strips to IP67 with end caps.

02

Neon flex

High-diffusion sleeve for a continuous line of light.

03

Panel & linear fixtures

Sleeve as lens on linear luminaires.

04

Facade & outdoor

UV-stable sleeve for exposed architectural lighting.

05

Automotive ambient

Interior light guides at 105 °C.

06

Machine & cabinet lighting

Coolant and chip resistant linear lights.

DIMENSIONS

Bore, wall and light performance

Transmission is measured on a 3 mm wall at 550 nm. Haze is what makes the strip read as a line instead of a row of dots; the right value depends on the pitch below it.

FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

How much light do I lose through the sleeve?
Between 8 and 45 % depending on wall and diffusion grade. A clear 1.5 mm wall costs about 9 %; a heavy 3 mm diffuser costs around 45 % but removes the dot pattern entirely. Choose the haze first, then compensate with diode density.
Does silicone really not yellow?
Not from UV, which is where PVC and polyurethane fail. Silicone can discolour from contamination during extrusion or from excessive heat at the LED junction. We use a platinum-cured optical compound and quote QUV data rather than claiming permanence.
How is IP67 achieved at the ends?
The sleeve alone is not IP67; the ends are. We supply matching end caps and a potting compound, and test the assembly. A sleeve with a cable tie at each end will leak on a facade within a season.
Can you match our existing profile exactly?
If you send a cross-section drawing or a 100 mm cut, yes. Custom profiles need a die; the tooling is a one-off and the lead time is typically three weeks from drawing approval.
Is a flame-retardant sleeve available?
Yes, UL 94 V-0. Note that FR grades drop transmission by a few points and cost more, so specify it only where the fixture has to meet a flame test.

Send the strip, not the sleeve size.

LED pitch, power per metre and the stand-off between board and sleeve. We come back with a wall and diffusion grade, plus a 300 mm lit sample so you can see the line before you commit to a die.
