Peristaltic pump tubing
that holds its flow rate

The tube is the pump. Bore tolerance, wall recovery and compression set decide whether the dose stays inside spec at 10 000 revolutions or drifts from the first hour.

WHY THIS SPEC

Flow drift is a wall problem,
not a pump problem.

A peristaltic pump delivers volume by squeezing a tube flat and letting it spring back. Every revolution costs the tube a little of that spring. When the wall stops recovering fully, the flow drops before the tube visibly fails, and the drift is silent: nobody notices until an assay comes back low or a fill weight falls out of tolerance.

Three variables control that. Compression set, which is a property of the compound and its cure. Bore tolerance, because a 0.1 mm error on a 1 mm bore is a 10 % error in cross section and therefore in dose. And wall thickness, which sets how much the tube is deformed at a given occlusion gap. We hold bore to ±0.05 mm on sizes below 4 mm and supply compression set data with each lot.

Low compression set
Under 18 % after 22 h at 175 °C. The wall returns, so the dose stays flat.
Bore held to ±0.05 mm
Concentric, mandrel-drawn below 4 mm. Cross-section variation stays under 3 %.
Three wall options
1.6 mm for lab pumps, 2.4 mm for general dosing, 3.2 mm for high-pressure heads.
Matched to your pump
Send the pump model and occlusion gap; we recommend the wall that fits, not the nearest stock size.
OPTIONS

Four ways to specify it

Same compound family, different construction. Mixing two options on one order is common and usually cheaper than splitting the purchase.

Standard Pump Tubing

General dosing and transfer duty

ID 1.6–9.5 mm · 1.6 mm wall

Long-Life Pump Tubing

High resilience compound for continuous running

ID 1.6–9.5 mm · 2.4 mm wall

High-Pressure Pump Tubing

Thick wall for viscous product and back pressure

ID 3.2–12.7 mm · 3.2 mm wall

Micro Bore Dosing

Fine bore for reagent and sample handling

ID 0.5–2.4 mm · ±0.05 mm
WHERE IT RUNS

DIMENSIONS

Bore, wall and expected life

Life figures are from a continuous run at 300 rpm against a 2-roller head with a correctly set occlusion gap. Your pump geometry will shift them; treat them as a comparison, not a guarantee.

FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

How many hours will a tube last?
On a 2-roller head at 300 rpm with a correctly set gap, 400–520 h is the realistic band; 3-roller heads are harsher and 6-roller heads gentler. The number that matters is when flow drops below your tolerance, not when the tube bursts.
Which wall thickness should I order?
Match the pump manufacturers specification first. Beyond that: 1.6 mm for lab-scale heads with a fixed gap, 2.4 mm for general dosing, 3.2 mm where you push viscous product or need back pressure. A wall that is too thick over-compresses and fails earlier, not later.
Can it replace the branded tubing we use now?
Usually, at the same bore and wall. Send the pump model and the current part number; we compare bore, wall, hardness and compression set and tell you where they differ. If the difference matters for your dose tolerance, we will say so instead of shipping a substitute.
How consistent is the bore from lot to lot?
±0.05 mm on bores under 4 mm, ±0.10 mm above that, measured on a 3-point cross-section. Lot-to-lot variation in cross section is held under 3 %, which is what keeps a volumetric dose repeatable without recalibration.
Is it food or medical approved?
The standard compound meets FDA 21 CFR 177.2600. A USP Class VI version is available for infusion and single-use bioprocess duty; it is a different compound, not a certificate applied to the same tube.

Tell us the pump and the dose tolerance.

Pump model, occlusion gap, product viscosity and the flow error you can accept. We come back with a bore and wall recommendation, a life estimate and a 2 m sample to run on your own head.
